Western Conference Semifinals: Spurs vs. Wolves Game 1
The second round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs kicks off in San Antonio as the #2 San Antonio Spurs welcome the #6 Minnesota Timberwolves for a clash of defensive titans. While the Spurs have enjoyed home-court advantage and relative health, the Timberwolves are arriving in the Alamo City after one of the most improbable first-round upsets in history.
The Matchup: Wemby vs. The Wall
All eyes will be on Victor Wembanyama. After dismantling the Blazers in Round 1, Wemby faces his toughest defensive test yet in the form of Rudy Gobert and the Timberwolves' collective length. Minnesota's defense was the primary reason they were able to stifle Denver, and they will look to use that same physical pressure to bother the young Spurs superstar.
However, Minnesota enters this series significantly wounded. They are currently playing without star guard Anthony Edwards (knee) and defensive specialist Donte DiVincenzo (Achilles).
Can Minnesota's Supporting Cast Repeat History?
In Round 1, the Wolves relied on heroics from Ayo Dosunmu and Jaden McDaniels. For Minnesota to steal Game 1 on the road, they will need Dosunmu to maintain his scoring aggression and McDaniels to provide elite wing defense against San Antonio's perimeter threats.
The Spurs, meanwhile, are well-rested and look to establish their dominance early. With Devin Vassell shooting at a high clip and Wemby controlling the paint, San Antonio enters as clear favorites.
Key Game 1 Prop Angles
- Victor Wembanyama Over 3.5 Blocks: Wemby's rim protection will be vital against Minnesota's interior-heavy attack.
- Ayo Dosunmu Over 18.5 Points: With Ant out, Dosunmu remains the primary scoring engine for the Wolves.
- San Antonio Spurs Spread (-7.5): The rest advantage and home court make the Spurs a strong play for Game 1.
