Embiid's 33 Points Keep Sixers Alive; Celtics Lead Series 3-2
Reports of the Philadelphia 76ers' demise were greatly exaggerated. Faced with a "win or go home" scenario at TD Garden on Tuesday night, the Sixers leaned on their MVP. Joel Embiid delivered a dominant 33 points and 8 assists to power Philadelphia to a 113-97 victory, keeping their season alive.
The Celtics still lead the series 3-2, but the momentum has shifted as the series returns to the City of Brotherly Love for Game 6.
The Embiid Dominance
Embiid was even better in his second game back from injury, controlling the pace from the high post and punishing the Celtics' interior defense. He shot 12-of-19 from the floor and was a perfect 7-of-7 from the free-throw line. His 8 assists were just as crucial, as he repeatedly found open shooters when the Celtics brought double teams.
"We knew we couldn't go out like that," Embiid said. "The pressure was on us, and we responded. Now we take it back to Philly."
Tyrese Maxey provided the perfect secondary punch, finishing with 25 points and 10 rebounds. His speed in transition allowed the Sixers to capitalize on Boston's turnovers, turning defensive stops into quick buckets.
Celtics Struggle to Close Out
The Celtics entered Tuesday night looking to punch their ticket to the second round, but their offense lacked the usual rhythm. Jayson Tatum led Boston with 24 points and 16 rebounds, but he struggled with his efficiency, shooting just 8-of-21 from the field.
Boston’s perimeter shooting, usually their greatest strength, deserted them in Game 5. They hit just 28% of their three-point attempts, allowing the Sixers to stay comfortably ahead throughout the second half.

What's Next for Game 6?
The Sixers have a chance to force a Game 7 if they can protect their home court on Thursday. However, the Celtics are still the favorites to close this out.
Jake's Take: "The Sixers played a perfect game, and the Celtics played their worst. I don't expect Boston to shoot 28% from deep again. Game 6 is going to be a war, but I still lean Boston to finish the job."
